Our Causes
As defined in our constitution we are only able to make grants to registered UK charities.
As the number of good applications exceeds the funding we have available, we use the following criteria to help us in make decisions on how best to allocate funding.
- Applications that have the greatest impact on reducing human suffering (e.g. extreme poverty or the lack of basic human rights as defined by the UN Declaration of Human Rights)
- Applications that have the greatest impact on reducing suffering in non-human sentient animals
- Applications from charities that have objectives and are managed in a way that is consistent with humanist principles
- Applications where a small grant might enable a larger project to go ahead, such as meeting a shortfall in funding or which encourage larger grants or fund-raising
- Applications where there is a high degree of likelihood of the proposed impact being achieved
